The story behind Lemon-aid
I have had eczema on and off for most of my life. When I was in college, I had a spot on my eyelid, arms, and behind my knees. I tried everything I could think of, then finally caved and used cortisone cream.
But then it got worse...
I stayed at a friends house over Thanksgiving and was so allergic to their laundry detergent, I broke out everywhere I had touched the bedding. Suddenly, my semi manageable eczema had flared to an unimaginable amount.
It was up and down my arms and legs, and the spot on my face grew worse!
Unfortunately, it wasn’t until after Thanksgiving break that I realized I was allergic to their laundry detergent.
The cortisone cream helped momentarily, but I knew it was a short term solution.
I remember getting married and trying to make sure I used enough cortisone cream to hide the fact that my eczema had become so bad.
My skin was so dry during my first pregnancy, it seemed nothing would help. It was then I made my first cocoa butter body butter., which was far better than anything I had tried—and even better I had no stretch marks on the skin I used it on.
Then, during my second pregnancy my eczema was worse than ever, but I managed and used my body butter and homemade vitamin c bath bombs to handle it.
Shortly after my son was born I realized his skin was like mine—and I needed a permanent solution.
I first tried all the baby-friendly lotions I could find, finally finding one that mostly worked. After a while though, I became tired of buying something that didn’t really help. Fortunately, it was around this time I was taking Advanced Metabolism. Applying that and speaking to my doctor friend from my church helped me see thing from a different light. Many things helped some, and it soon seemed like something we would just have to deal with.
Once I graduated with my degree in Chemistry, I threw myself into being a mom, but on the side I began researching different oils, butters, and waxes and their properties— and was thrilled when my sister asked me to make her a body butter for her to use during her pregnancy. It took a few tries, but I finally found a good consistency!
Then, for Christmas 2018, I decided to make everyone bath bombs for Christmas, and after multiple comments asking why I didn’t just sell them, I started pondering it, then I threw myself into it.
One day, my sister’s sister-in-law asked if I had a body butter for eczema, I told her I didn’t have one specifically designed for eczema, but I could certainly work on one for her!
Through research, I picked out ingredients that would soothe, nourish, and help fix the problems eczema brings, then made a batch for her and a batch for my son, as well as a batch of Vitamin C bath bombs as a addition. Before long, her son’s battle with eczema was gone—as was mine!
